The U.S. has confirmed the death of a senior al-Qaeda leader Farouq al-Qahtani targeted by a U.S. drone strike in Kunar, north eastern Afghanistan last month, BBC reported.

The reports on his probable death appeared at the end of October, but Pentagon abstained from reports before the final results of the military operation. The fate of another Al-Qaeda leader Bilal al-Utaybi who could be near Al-Qahtani during the American attack, is still unknown.

The U.S. included Al-Qahtani into the list of the most wanted terrorists of the world in February, 2016. It is believed that he was behind the organization of the attacks in the U.S. and Europe. The Pentagon called his death a serious blow to Al-Qaeda.
