At least 21 people were killed as a result of accidents that occurred during the celebration of the Chhath puja celebrations in the Indian state of Bihar, The Times of India reported.

The tragic events occurred on Monday, on the last day of the Hindu festival Chhath Puja dedicated to the Sun and his wife Usha. On the final day of Chhath Puja, the devotees, along with family and friends, go to the riverbank before sunrise, in order to make the offerings to the rising sun

At least three people, including two children were run over by a train in Samastipur district and 18 drowning in different parts of the country.
