YEREVAN. – It will remain priority for the U.S. government to build independent and prosperous Armenia at peace with neighbors regardless of who next president is, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills said during U.S. elections watch party.

“The U.S. Government will remain committed to our friends around the world, and certainly our friend Armenia,” Mr. Mills said during the event.

The staff of the embassy and the guests also participated in the mock presidential elections.

Speaking about foreign policy, Ambassador said that 80% of US foreign policy is generally bipartisan and remains stable from one presidential administration to the next.

Mr. Mills emphasized that this campaign underscored that democracy as form of government is sometimes messy, often heated and will spark debates among Americans. However, the Ambassador added that no other system of government serves people, prepares foundations for long-term economic growth and prosperity “as well as democracy does”.
