At least 40 people were detained during protest actions against the results of the U.S. presidential election. As NBC New York noted, thousands of protesters marched in New York and converged outside Trump Tower and Trump International Hotel to denounce the election of Donald Trump as president. 

The protesters chanted “Not my president” and "hey, hey, ho, ho Donald Trump has got to go.” They held signs that read “Trump Makes America Hate" and “Impeach Trump.” A few climbed vehicles and light poles. Many were cursing the residents of states that supported the Republican candidate.

The police detained 30 people because of behavior. Then more were detained during protests in Richmond, Virginia, CBS 6 reported.

Protesters had blocked the city main highway then the police interfered with a situation. Most of the protesters left the roadway but a considerable part of Trump’s opponents refused to leave it and then was detained. According to law enforcers, six women and four men aged from 20 up to 26 were among them.

Major demonstrations against Trump took place on Thursday night in many large American cities, including Washington, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle.

The U.S. presidential election took place on November 8, Republican Donald Trump elected as a U.S. president. Voting procedure of electors who formally elect the president, will be held on 19 December. On January 6, 2017 the Congress will approve its outcome.  The inauguration of the elected president is planned for January 20.
