The crisis headquarters established under Germany’s Ministry of Agriculture in Berlin holds a meeting due to bird flu epidemic in the northern part of the country, announced the Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt, reports the dpa. The minister has called for a rapid and effective decision-making on the background of topical issues.

Earlier, the Ministry confirmed that a trace of H5N8 influenza had been identified in Schleswig Flensburg district, where there were 30 thousand birds. The experts use quarantine to fight the infection spread near the rivers and lakes, where infected birds are recorded.  H5N8 influenza is also coming from Hungary, Poland, and Croatia.
