Armenian parliamentary delegation member Mikayel Melkumyan on Sunday posed three questions to Minister of Science, Industry and Technology of Turkey, Faruk Özlü, at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) annual session in Istanbul, Turkey.

Melkumyan asked two of these questions to Özlü as a senior representative of the Turkish authorities, and the other one—as a relevant minister. 

The Armenian MP proposed that the Turkish minister comment on Turkish FM Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s statement—a day earlier—that the matter of Armenian Genocide is up to the historians to discuss. In his respective remarks, Melkumyan unequivocally dismissed this assertion, and recorded that dozens of countries have already recognized Armenian Genocide which does not need proof.

His second question referred to the Turkish government’s unilaterally provocative statement, during the four-day war which Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s criminal regime had unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) in early April, in which an accurate assessment was not given to the respective situation.

And in his third query, Mikayel Melkumyan reflected on the fact that the Turkish government is funding ISIS, whereas the Turkish economy is in a deep crisis, and therefore the reforms this government has proposed are in fact null and void.   

The Turkish minister, however, refused to answer the Armenian MP’s questions stating that he does not respond to political questions.
