YEREVAN. – The daily monitoring conducted by the Ministry of Health of Armenia shows that acute respiratory infections have become more active these days in the country, especially among young children, and this has led to work overload in the country’s hospitals.

The ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am, however, that there are no patients with severe cases of pneumonia, and work is underway to reduce the current workload at hospitals.

As a result of a “preventive filtering” carried out Monday throughout Armenia, about 1,800 children, who attended schools or kindergartens despite being sick, were sent home, and their respective health data were transferred to polyclinics. 

The Ministry of Health also recalled that several respiratory pathogens are prevalent within the past one month in Armenia as well as in several other European countries including Georgia, Russia, and Ukraine.
