In order to conduct a study of the current situation of Gypsies in Turkey, Meline Anumyan of Akunq.net visited Ardanuç (Artanush, in Armenian) town in Artvin Province, where she also met with Yaşar Karataş, who is a Gypsy. 

Also, Karataş showed the local Armenian traces in Adakale (Gevhernik) district.

Ardanuç was once populated mainly by Armenians, but most of whom were killed by being thrown off from the cliff, which is called Sesli (i.e. voice emitting) Kaya, to Cehennem Deresi (Hell’s Valley).

Although were four Armenian churches in Adakale, now, only their ruins remain.

Yaşar Karataş also showed the local Armenian cemetery. Even though the tombstones at this cemetery were preserved, it was no longer possible to read the Armenian inscriptions on them.

And when they were passing by a house, the “guide” informed that this house had belonged to Armenians, and that its future proprietor had found a great treasure there that was left from the Armenians.
