The EU will not open a new chapter in the history of Turkey's membership in the EU, said the Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz at the EU Council meeting, reports TASS.

"It is true that it's impossible now to go further with such a very difficult situation in Turkey ... we will say certainly that it is impossible to open new chapters for the accession process," the minister said. According to him, in order to open them, a unanimous decision is needed. However, Austria will never give a consent. The Austrian minister blocked a joint statement of the European Council on Turkey's membership.
