The U.S. President Donald Trump assured Canada PM Justin Trudeau that his country committed to bilateral cooperation with the southern neighbor, according to the Voice of America.

White House said in a statement that “President Trump underscored the importance of America’s relationship with Canada for addressing the problems facing both countries, as well as the opportunities for both countries.  To that end, President Trump emphasized the importance of working closely with Canada on cross-border issues, including implementation of his Administration’s actions to protect America from terrorist attacks by foreign nationals and others. The two leaders noted their desire to continue building on the countries’ deep partnership, which has been strengthened by their meeting on February 13.”

Besides the issues of immigration, the main topic of Trump and Trudeau's meeting on February 13 was trade. President Trump made it clear that he wanted to change or cancel the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between USA, Canada and Mexico. He stated that he wanted to conclude trade agreements that are more profitable for U.S.. As we know, Trudeau is a supporter of a freer trade model.

Canada depends a lot on American market, as 75% of its exports comes from the United States.
