The NEWS. am reporter’s’ question about a possible political project by the ex-minister of foreign affairs, leader of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan provoked quite a violent reaction on the part of the Heritage Party Board member Hovsep Khurshudyan. “Slander, bosh and nonsense!” Khurshudyan said, responding to a request for a comment on the information on Hovhannisyan’s plans to establish a new party, New Heritage.

Our source told us about Raffi Hovhannisyan’s intention to form a new party using the potential of the Heritage Party, which has lately been at the center of a big scandal.

Khurshudyan told NEWS.am that the rumors are so absurd that they defy comments. “I can guess who is spreading the rumors, and what the purpose is. But I want to warn them they will not get what they want. They must hope the lie spread by them will be perceived by the public, as Raffi Hovhannisyan is outside the country and it is difficult for him to refute the rumors. I state once again that the rumors about Hovhannisyan’s plans to establish a new party are false,” Khurshudyan said. Neither Hovhannisyan’s party mates nor his assistants are informed of the time of his return.

Last year’s congress of the Heritage Party was followed by ferment in the party ranks. As a result, the Heritage Party Board decided to expel the party representative at the Central Electoral Commission Zoya Tadevosyan, the former Board Chairman Vardan Khachatryan and Movses Aristakesyan. At its last year’s congress elected Anahit Bakhshyan Chairperson of the Board in place of Raffi Hovhannisyan. A few months later Hovhannisyan resigned as head of the Heritage parliamentary faction.
