The Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD) on Thursday reported about the death of two Russian servicemen in the shelling of Hmeymim airbase in Syria on New Year’s Eve, according to RBC news agency of Russia.
“On December 31, 2017, after dark, the Hmeymim airfield suddenly came under mortar shelling from a mobile subversive group of militants,” stated the Russian MOD. “As a result of the attack, two servicemen were killed.”
