YEREVAN. – The new City Hall and a new Council of Elders of Yerevan will be created, the mayoral candidate from Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisian said on Monday during the election campaign.
According to him, after the elections scheduled for September 23, the power in Yerevan will return to people.
“The winner in the elections is not a priority, it is more important that the ordinary citizen of Yerevan will trust his choice, as the new mayor and the new Council of Elders will be accountable to the residents,” Hovhannisian said.
According to him, the Heritage party hopes for the wide support of the residents of Yerevan.
“If I, as a mayoral candidate, win the confidence of the majority of Yerevan citizens, I will consider it an honor to become one of the civil servants, who will take decisions jointly with the Council of Elders solely on the basis of the position of Yerevan residents, all interested parties and specialists,” the politician noted.
According to him, for 12 days of election campaigning Yerevan citizens will not only hear different points of view, but will also find much in common from all the electoral programs.
“It is normal, since everyone is aware of problems in Yerevan, from culture, education and art to the repair of elevators, urban planning and garbage collection. But Yerevan should decide which team will fulfill its promises on investments, increasing the budget, uniting the potential of Armenia and the Diaspora for the benefit of the capital,” Raffi Hovhannisian added.
Heritage party member Sona Malkhasyan, in turn, added that “the party intends to double the green territories in Yerevan and turn the Armenian capital into the Eastern Silicon Valley.”
According to her, Yerevan should become a city of small and medium-sized business, where environmentally sound, high-tech industries, solar energy, and waste treatment are developing.
