YEREVAN. – The agenda of the talks with General Secretary of the International Organization of La Francophonie Michaëlle Jean was rich and extensive, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said on Tuesday during a joint press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, the sides discussed the upcoming summit.

“We discussed the priorities of the agenda of all the member states of the organization of La Francophonie, its influence and benefits for the member states, and the role of the International Olympic Committee as a platform for linguistic and cultural diversity,” the Foreign Minister noted.

According to him, it is important for a small country like Armenia to know as many languages as possible.

“But to use the language as a mean to exchange goals and values is more important,” Mnatsakanyan added, recalling that the OIF unites Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, North America and Europe, and cooperation is used to promote common values, namely  tolerance, humanism, human rights, and democracy.

The priorities of the forthcoming summit are also based on it.

“We intend to achieve the most practical results possible during the chairmanship until 2020,” the Minister said.

An economic forum will also be held at TUMO center within the summit, while there is an intention to create a network of ministers on IT.

From October 7 to 12 the village of La Francophonie will operate at Yerevan Freedom square, where the concert will be held, during which both the Armenian artists and world famous stars will perform.

“This is a great honor and responsibility for Armenia,” Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted.
