U.S. considers Azerbaijani “Shah Deniz” gas field as well as other gas resources of Caspian field (including those of Turkmenistan) potential gas suppliers for Nabucco project, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman stated.

“Together with the representatives of states’ leaders and oil companies we had a good opportunity to study a number of gas fields that passes through the South Corridor project,” Poneman said. According to Deputy Secretary, his delegation held discussions on the South Corridor project with Azerbaijani authorities in Baku. “We consider that talks will progress and bring to final decision,” Poneman underlined.

Nabucco project construction, totaling 7.9bln Euro launches in 2011 and lasts till 2014. The project participants are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE companies holding 16.67% shares each.
