An unscheduled NATO meeting dedicated to the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny will be held on Friday.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg is expected to make an official statement and will call on the Russian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of this crime, DW reported.

The likelihood that NATO will announce some far-reaching measures -related to possible sanctions against Russia - is currently low, not least because so far none of the possible perpetrators of the poisoning have been charged, dpa reported.
