The CIS Summit starts today, Oct.8 in Chisinau, Moldova. The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are not participating. The first two states will be represented by Prime Ministers, and the third — by Deputy Prime Minister. As for Uzbekistan, it may be represented by the country's Ambassador.

The arrival of Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko is not confirmed yet, who announced his intention to attend the Summit.

The Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents are to hold a meeting during the Summit to discuss the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.

The focal point of the Summit is recovery from crisis at regional and national levels.
