Capitol security officials have shifted the blame for the failures that allowed supporters of former US President Donald Trump to storm the building on the Pentagon, Politico reported.
Four senior security officials blamed intelligence failures and accused senior Pentagon officials of being unprepared for a coordinated military-style attack on Congress. Their testimony in the Senate revealed a tangle of conflicting orders, missed calls, and bureaucratic delays.
Speaking to two Senate committees, former Capitol Police Chief Steven A. Sund said the Pentagon was stalling for time on January 6 even after law enforcement officials pleaded for more help. Even then, the rebels set up two explosives nearby broke into the Capitol and attacked the police.
