Facebook announced preliminary agreements with three Australian publishers, a day after parliament passed legislation requiring digital giants to pay for news content, AP reported.

Facebook reported that letters of intent were signed with independent news organizations Private Media, Schwartz Media, and Solstice Media. Full commercial agreements will be signed within the next 60 days, according to Facebook.

Facebook, in turn, agreed to remove the ban on Australians from accessing and sharing news.

Google, the only other digital giant covered by the law, has already entered or close to content licensing deals with some of Australia's largest news publishers, including News Corp. Rupert Murdoch and Seven West Media.
