Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said there were casualties and wounded in an explosion in central Istanbul.
"Today, at around 4:20 p.m., there was an explosion in the Beyoglu neighborhood, Istiklal Street.
"Police, health, fire and AFAD (emergency services) teams were dispatched to the scene.
"There are victims and wounded. Information on the development of events will be brought to the public," the governor told reporters.
