YEREVAN. - The NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange did not conduct foreign currency trading on Friday, too. The asking price for US$ 1 was AMD 382.50, but these requests were not met. Consequently, and even though no trading is conducted at the stock exchange for two consecutive sessions, we can say the Dollar is gaining value.   

It is not a coincidence that, in comparison with Thursday, the Dollar increased by an average of AMD 1 in the cash foreign currency market, and therefore $1 is sold for a minimum of AMD 383 and bought at a maximum of AMD 381, on Friday 

The recent fluctuations in the exchange rate show that the banks wish to very much depart from the $1/AMD 382 exchange rate. And the most likely reasons are the scenarios depicted in the Armenian Central Bank’s regular report, on financial stability, which was published in late October.   

After this publication, the Dollar quickly began gaining value in the financial market and the banks wish to be close to the $1/AMD 382 exchange rate, and they condition their market performance on this.
