The above-ground facility at the Natanz plant, where Iran had been enriching uranium up to 60%, was destroyed, along with the site’s electrical infrastructure, said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

According to Grossi, Iran confirmed that only the fuel enrichment plant in Natanz was hit during today’s attacks.

“In Natanz, the above-ground section of the pilot plant where Iran enriched uranium to 60% U-235 was destroyed. The facility’s electrical infrastructure — the distribution substation, main power supply building, emergency systems, and backup generators — was also destroyed,” Grossi said during a UN Security Council meeting held online, as reported by RIA Novosti.

The IAEA head added that there were no signs of a direct physical strike on the underground halls housing centrifuge cascades from both the experimental and main fuel enrichment facilities.

“However, the loss of power feeding the cascades may have damaged the centrifuges located there,” Grossi noted.
