Pressure exerted on Turkey in opening ports to Greek Cypriots seems to increasing this time from UK.

“I call on Turkish government to honor its pledge. The ports should open, more in word than in deed,” said UK Minister of State for Europe Chris Bryant, having close ties in the Greek Cyprus.

According to him, Europe is reluctant to block all doors before Turkey. “Turkey’s membership process (in EU) should proceed.”

EU began talks with Turkey after Ankara pledged to open its ports to Greek Cypriots.

Back in 2004, EU accepted Greek part of Cyprus as a full member. Later, Greek Cypriots strengthening in EU, voiced threats to veto the talks on Turkey’s joining EU as a full member.
