“The Central Bank of Armenia must take all the necessary legally acceptable measures to ensure price stability,” Tatul Manaseryan, Advisor to the Speaker of the RA Parliament, told reporters.

Manaseryan did not give a clear answer to NEWS.am’s question as to whether the measures include the funds – over U.S. $200m – the CBA has sold over the last two months and a half to stabilize the prices and the AMD exchange rate, while the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a U.S. $320m loan. He pointed out that he is not a decision-maker, and referred journalists to competent authorities.

As to whether the CBA’s fixed rate policy may follow the March 3 precedent (the CBA then launched a floating exchange rate policy, which caused a price rise), Manaseryan said that everything is possible amid the crisis.
