YEREVAN. – The court hearing into the case of United National Initiative leader and activist Shant Harutyunyan commenced in Kentron-Marash court of the capital city Yerevan.
Numerous police officers gathered near the building, Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports.
The United National Initiative leader and activist Shant Harutyunyan had announced about starting a revolution last November.
On November 5, 2013 Harutyunyan and several dozen supporters wearing Guy Fawkes “Anonymous masks”—had started a march toward the Presidential Palace, but the police had stopped the march.
As a result, there was a scuffle and explosions, and the police detained 38 activists. Subsequently, criminal charges were laid against fourteen of them, including Harutyunyan and his 15-year-old son Shahen. As a result of the melee, sixteen people, including eight police officers, were injured.
