Garo Paylan, Istanbul-Armenian MP of the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) of Turkey, has been barred from attending three parliamentary sessions, for speaking about Armenian Genocide, in parliament.

In his remarks at the Turkish parliamentary rostrum, Paylan reminded about Armenian Genocide, and this angered the MPs of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), according to Diken news website of Turkey.

Paylan, however, went on with his remarks and stated that even though others may say what they want, he calls the events in Turkey that occurred from 1915 to 1923 genocide because Armenians used to make up 40 percent of the country’s population, but, now, they comprise solely one in every thousand.

But after his remarks as well as the joint statement by the three other parliamentary parties, the Turkish parliament speaker announced that, as a penalty, Garo Paylan was banned from participating in three parliamentary sessions.
