International NATO exercises Poseidon 21 on Saturday started in the Black Sea port of Constanta, the press service of the General Staff of the Romanian Naval Forces reported.

The Constanta Fleet Command is conducting planned exercises at sea, on land, and in the air, in which forces from Bulgaria, France, Greece, Romania, Spain, the United States of America, and Turkey are combined. Poseidon 21 is a highly sophisticated exercise that aims to make the best use of NATO's capabilities to enhance the Alliance's rapid response, the Romanian Navy's General Staff said in a statement.

 During the exercise, scenarios for combating underwater threats will be worked out, which include hydrographic reconnaissance, detection, and disposal of sea mines, and improvised explosive devices. Also, exercises are conducted to combat enemy aircraft, ships, and submarines, towing damaged ships, refueling on water, and providing first aid. Among other things, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania must work out joint actions during the explosion of a hydraulic structure.
