Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama will hold talks on drafting of new START treaty in Copenhagen, where the 2009 UN Climate Change Conference commences today, December 18.

The politicians will try to elaborate common approaches to take a common stand to outcome document of summit, ending today. Greenhouse gas emissions and financial aid amounts to the developing countries will be the uppermost subjects of the talks. According to experts, both topics got bogged down procedural issues.

Meanwhile, the recommitment of the new START treaty will take some time, though Russian and U.S. leaders intend to complete the work in the shortest possible time.
