YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Chairman and head of Armenia’s delegation to PACE, Davit Harutyunyan, is the country’s most actively traveling MP, Zhoghovurd daily reports.  

“As case in point, in 2011 he was on business trips for more than 170 days—that is to say, half of the year—in one year. The second is [opposition] ARF [Dashnaktsutyun MP] Armen Rustamyan, and then [comes ruling Republican Party] RPA [MP] Gagik Minasyan.   

According to approximate calculations, Harutyunyan’s business trips cost 160,000-170,000 euros, per year, which Armenia’s state budget pays for.

In an interview with us, Harutyunyan did not rule out that he is the MP who goes on the most trips. But he found it difficult to say how much money is paid from the taxpayers’ pocket for his business trips,” Zhoghovurd writes.
