The annual children’s book fair was held on October 14 in the Municipality of The Hague. 

The Dutch-Armenian community also attended the event, with performances by the Abovyan Cultural Association’s children’s dance ensemble and its students’ Armenian- and Dutch-language recitals of the works by Armenian poets.   

Armenia’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dzyunik Aghajanyan, delivered welcoming remarks to the attendees. She noted that Armenia’s capital city Yerevan has the honor of holding the title of World Book Capital for 2012.  

The Ambassador also stressed that the books have always been considered sanctity for the Armenian  people and very often becoming a factor for preserving national identity. And, as per Aghajanyan, it is not a happenstance that these days, which pleasantly coincide with Armenian capital city Yerevan’s anniversary, the Armenian people also celebrate the Translators’ Day, which appreciates the books and their creators.
