YEREVAN.- Armenia’s humanitarian aid for Aleppo was searched thoroughly in Erzurum airport, member of ‘Help Your Brother’ initiative group Vahan Hovhannisyan told reporters on Tuesday.

Thousands of boxes were searched to make sure they do not contain weapons.

“We did not want to draw special attention to our charitable efforts,” Hovhannisyan emphasized.

Members of the initiative group said they realize there is tension about Syria flights but do not want to politicize their moves.

“We have discussed several routes and Erzurum appeared to be the most convenient transit. The main goal was to transport cargo to Aleppo safely, and we managed to do it,” he added.
