YEREVAN. – President, and Ruling Republican Party (RPA) leader, Serzh Sargsyan is against the Prosperous Armenia Party’s statement. He finds that it is too early for CIS—let alone South Caucasus—countries to pass to parliamentary governance, Hraparak daily reports referring to its RPA sources.

“Such proposal was made to him back in 2008 by his ‘teammates,’ [and] based on Georgia’s track-record. He sharply rejected that approach at that time as well saying it requires many years of work and a basis for amendments.

With respect to the other constitutional amendment, whereby new deputy PM offices will be set up, ‘that is something else; it requires an amendment in solely one line of the Constitution,’ [and] therefore the authorities are ready to go with that,” Hraparak writes.
