Georgia has submitted a 2010 plan of action to NATO, which was approved. On January 31, the plan will be submitted to the Georgian State Commission for Integration with NATO. The action plan provides for intensified reforms and corruption control, fair local elections, media freedom, etc…

Speaker of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze is to hold a meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The sides will discuss the situation in the Abkhazian and South Ossetian conflict zones, as well as the fields Georgia needs to make progress in to meet the NATO standards as soon as possible.

“Emphasis will be placed on the country’s security, occupied territories as well as on what the European Parliament can do in this field,” Bakradze told reporters. He held official meetings at the European Parliament and made a speech at an enlarged meeting of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
