At his meeting with the Turkish leaders in Ankara the newly elected PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu informed them of his work and plans, Turkish TRT TV company website reports.

Cavusoglu met with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, who underlined the importance of the Turkish MP’s appointment to the post. According to him, it is evidence of the level of Turkey’s international reputation and peaceful diplomacy.

Thereafter, the PACE President met with Turkish Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin. The latter expressed his content with Cavusoglu’s election as PACE President. He also stressed Turkey has to mend the human rights situation. In his turn, Cavusoglu expressed his gratitude to Sahin for his support in his nomination to the post.

Cavusoglu also participated in a sitting of the Advisory Council of the ruling Justice and Development Party. He stated that a PACE commission will be set up to deal with individual countries’ problems.
