YEREVAN. – The voter interest in Armenia increased by 11 percent in the past 1.5 months, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan informed during a press conference on Wednesday. He added that the ruling Republican Party’s presidential election campaign headquarters had requested them to conduct a public survey. 

In his words, the opinion poll was held on January 18 and 19, and 1,650 adult residents of Armenia took part in the survey. A total of 2,320 people were actually proposed to take part in the opinion poll, but about 670 of them refused arguing that they are not interested in politics.  

“In December [2012], 60 percent of the respondents were interested, 40 percent were not interested, whereas in January [2013], 71 percent are interested and 29 percent are not interested in the elections,” Aharon Adibekyan informed.
