YEREVAN. – Armenia’s forthcoming presidential election is competitive in the quantitative sense because several candidates are running for office, but it is not competitive in the qualitative sense. Political and electoral technology specialist Armen Badalyan stated this during a press conference on Thursday.
In his words, the ruling Republican Party candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan outdoes the other contenders, by several times, in terms of financial and administrative resources and media support. The analyst added that no matter how many press conferences some presidential hopefuls hold, they will not achieve any results.
As per Badalyan, hunger strikes, on the other hand, focus the attention on the given candidate for just several days.
The political technologist noted that Armenia’s body politic is apathetic as compared to the previous election, and this likewise has paved way for a growing emigration.
