After the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted Resolution #252 on Armenian Genocide on March 4, relations between the U.S and Turkey went into a recession, German Süddeutsche Zeitung reads.

The source outlines that currently the document should be discussed in the U.S. Congress, but it is unknown what fate it will suffer there. Thereafter, it recalls that “historical basis for the discussion of the mentioned resolution in the Congress was mass deportation and slaughter of Armenians in Turkish Anatolia in 1915-1916.”

“Armenians speak of the victims reaching 1.5 million, while Turkey says of 1 million killed during the World War I, asserting the war caused death of all those people. It discredits the fact that systematic killing of Armenians was a genocide,” newspaper maintains.
