ISTANBUL. – The police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the people, who had come out to Downtown Istanbul to protest following the corruption scandal in Turkey.
The police on Friday took severe measures against the people demanding the government’s resignation, reports Hürriyet daily of Turkey.
Even though the protest was to get underway at 7:30pm, local time, the police started their intervention at 6։30pm, since a large number of people already had begun a protest march.
In addition, the police detained seventy protesters.
