YEREVAN. – European Union (EU) Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, is in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, within the framework of the 8th Eastern Partnership Informal Ministerial Dialogue devoted to research, science, and innovation.

Moedas on Friday visited the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies, where met with young scientists, the Ministry of Education and Science informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The EU commissioner briefed these young scientists on the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for research and innovation, to which Armenia joined in recent times. He expressed the hope that the young scientists of Armenia can contribute to making Europe more open. Moedas added that Horizon 2020 is a good opportunity for Armenia’s individual scientists and scientific organizations to be included in the European university and scientific network.

The EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation also paid visits to the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran), and the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies.
