Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov will pay a visit to Turkey on December 1. In the framework of his visit, he will hold talks also on the situation in Syria and Ukraine.

Official Spokeswoman for the Russian MFA, Maria Zakharaova, stated the aforementioned at a briefing on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.

“On December 1, Sergey Lavrov will pay a working visit to Alanya city of Turkey. He will attend the fifth session of the Joint Russian-Turkish Strategic Planning Group,” she said.  

The Spokeswoman also stressed that the session of the group is held “for the first time after the normalization of the Russian-Turkish ties following the crisis caused by the incident in the Syrian airspace on November 24, 2015.”

“It is planned to carry out profound exchange of views on a wide scope of pressing bilateral, international and regional issues. It is [also] scheduled to discuss the situation in Syria and the general situation in the region. Issues related to raising the effectiveness of the fight against international terrorism will also be in the focus of attention. Dialogue on issues related to the situation in Transcaucasia, Central Asia and Ukraine will continue,” the diplomat added.
