YEREVAN. - Almost all the Armenian businessmen are merely afraid of funding the opposition.

MP Edmon Marukyan said the aforementioned in the parliament Monday.

Businessmen don't choose to do this for thе fear of having a ''pile'' of problems with state authorities, he added.

''They are afraid of providing us an area for offices. After our meetings with the electors, intelligence service officers come there and inquire who had come and what they were talking about. It turns out the state has these resources. If so, then let them not watch us but those who seize the police buildings with guns in their hands,'' the MP said.

Referring to the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Marukyan noted that it is enough to look at its property declaration to ask whether any other party can collect at least the fourth of all this in one or twenty years, Marukyan added.

''The higher educational institutions and public infrastructure companies have become means of making our politics republican. These organizations are actually turning into RPA branches,'' Marukyan said.
