YEREVAN. - 7000 people joined the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) due to PM Karen Karapetyan's joining the party.
Heritage parliamentary faction MP Tevan Poghosyan told the aforementioned to reporters in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Monday.
The important thing is the professional skills of a person, and not which political party he represents, he noted. In Poghosyan's words, joining of 7000 people to the RPA has to do with Karen Karapetyan's membership: ''This was a message: Look, I am the man who can ensure 7000 people overnight by his authority. Such membership in the party is odd.''
According to him, the party shouldn't be interested in the membership of people whom it doesn't know. ''These 7000 people can include those who have nothing in common with the Armenian values and ideas. The fact that everyone who writes an application is accepted is indicative of the party's level. If the Congress was held in a Soviet form, joining should have also been carried out in that manner. I remember when someone wanted to become a member of the Communist Party, they had to pass a school and take exams,'' Poghosyan concluded.
