YEREVAN. – According to the latest projection by the Central Bank (CB) of Armenia, solely a 1.3- to 1.8-percent economic growth will be recorded in the country this year; this is noted in the 4th quarter monetary policy program of the bank, according to Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper.

“This is noteworthy for the fact that the CB had projected a growth of up to 3.4 percent, in the monetary policy program for the previous quarter.

“Such a huge deviation in the CB projections in a short period is perhaps unprecedented. This once again proves that the current state of our economy is a surprise to both the government and the CB.

“To this day, no official source has commented on what happened to our economy in the last few months, and why it indelibly plunges,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
