The former President of Portugal Mário Soares Tuesday was taken to the hospital, reports Lusa news agency. 92-year-old Soares is at Red Cross hospital in Lisbon. According to doctors, his condition is deteriorating.
The current president of the state Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa paid a visit to the former president. Mário Soares is a founder of the Portuguese Socialist Party. He was twice a prime minister of Portugal, and from 1986-1996 held the position of president.
