Japanese Emperor Akihito has a cold and fever and has canceled morning duties scheduled for December 16, an official at the Imperial Household Agency said.

Akihito, in particular, couldn't meet the volunteers helping with the organization of ceremonies in the palace. As doctors noted, the 82-year-old emperor’s temperature is not high, flu-like symptoms are not detected, Reuters reported.

In 2012, Akihito had a heart surgery, but now, according to doctors, he is in good shape for his age.
