The government of Beijing ordered to suspend activity or to reduce outputs of 1,200 factories near the Chinese capital because of the highest possible air pollution alert, Reuters reported.

The number of enterprises that need to suspend or reduce outputs included a major oil refinery run by state oil giant Sinopec and Cofco factory that makes instant noodles and crackers. In total, the order concerned 700 companies.

The day before city authorities announced the “red” level of weather alarm in connection with high air pollution and strong smog arising because of it.
