YEREVAN. – Accession into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) gave nothing to Armenia, from the economic viewpoint.

Director of the “Consumer Consulting Center” NGO, Karen Chilingaryan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Saturday.

In his words, virtually nothing positive occurred in the country, both in terms of prices and the quality of products, over the past two years since it joined the EAEU.

“[The Upper] Lars, the only road linking Armenia to Russia, is closed now [due to heavy snowfall], and it’s not known when it will open,” added Chilingaryan. “Along with that, it’s quite relative to say that we [i.e. Armenia] conduct trade with the other EAEU member countries.”

The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
