Armenian Ambassador to Vatican Mikayel Minasyan visited the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in Lebanon Thursday.

After the working meeting with Catholicos Aram I, Ambassador Minasyan along with the latter toured the Holy Mother of God Church in Bikfaya and Cilicia museum in Antelias, where the set and relicts saved from the Sis Catholicosate are displayed.

Besides, Aram I and Mikayel Minasyan together visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Antelias’ Mayravank, which was the first in the world.

Apart from this, the Armenian Ambassador visited one of the old buildings of Trchnots Bouyn (Birds' Nest) in Lebanon’s Jbeil district, where thousands of Armenian orphans found refuge in 1915 thanks to the efforts of Maria Jacobsen and other missionaries. Upon the initiative of Aram I, it is already the second year the building has turned into a museum.

“I remembered the entire history of the Genocide and the fates of the children survivors. I cannot but recall Maria Jacobsen, a woman who devoted her life to the Armenian people. She studied Armenian to speak with the Armenian children in their mother tongue. I am sure that the museum visitors will leave it with positive impressions and ideas,” Minasyan told journalists in the museum.

The museum preserves the stories of the orphans, exclusive archive documents and unpublished materials.
