At least 12 personnel of   the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and five more were injured after they were ambushed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, India on Saturday,  NDTV reported.

The Maoists also looted 10 weapons from the dead personnel in the area around 450km away from the state capital.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the deaths and said Home Minister Rajnath Singh would be visiting Sukma.

“Spoke to Home Minister @rajnathsingh Ji on the situation in Sukma. He is going to Sukma to take stock of the situation,” he tweeted.
