Russia-US relations now are worse than during the Cold War, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with ABC News, Gazeta reports.
To the question, whether Russia and the United States are in a state of a new cold war, Peskov replied: "A new cold war? Maybe even worse, given the actions of the current US presidential administration. "
Peskov called to recall decisions taken by the administration of the former US President Barack Obama in the last days of his presidency, including the extradition of the Russian diplomats and the "seizure" of the Russian diplomatic buildings in New York and Washington D.C..
"It hasn’t happened in the diplomatic relations between countries for many decades," he said. These actions, according to Peskov, caused a significant damage to the bilateral relations. In the same interview, Peskov also noted, that the meeting of the Russian and the US presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump might help to improve the current situation.
